“Oh Captain, my Captain!” I remember this line because it appeared as the last scene in the movie “Dead poet society”. When the English teacher was about to leave the classroom, students stood on the chairs and chanted “Oh Captain, my Captain.”
This scene reappeared yesterday, in reality. When the relieved Navy captain Brett Crozier left the USS Theodore Roosevelt, crew members sent off him with cheers and applause and chanted “Captain Crozier, Captain Crozier!”
Captain Crozier requested help to test and quarantine the sick sailors due to Coronavirus. But Defence Department said he undermined chain of commands and misjudged. If not pushed into the corner, I don’t think Captain Crozier would sacrifice his career to leak the report content. I guess he knew clearly what would lie ahead of him when he sent the pleading letter. However, he put his sailors’ life above his career. I heard the current situation is the ship will dock in American base in Japan. Crew members will land and get tested and quarantined for Coronavirus.
Salute to Captain Crozier! You saved your sailors’ lives.
